More Germany

It's hard to keep all the little villages winding along the river apart, since they all look alike. Here is a view from an old castle ruin. there was 4 other castles within 10 minutes from here.
Here is a village called Diez, off the autobahn, you can hear the bells ringing, it's just like out of a fairytale.
I had my first german beer, or bier, and it was fab. Bier is cheaper than water, the way it should be ;)
All of the castles and churches are located on the tops of hills, so there are lots of steps and trails. The flowers are simply to die for, so pretty and colorful.
it is 7 am right now, and the church bells are ringing in the distance. I was up at 5 to do some homework and then go for a run, my trail was along the Rhien River, I took a pano shot of my view. I have LOTS of pano shots so far. Thanks iphone!
After castle searching monday, we took a detour to Worms, Germany, because the fab, world famous Fentons are from Mobile, Alabama and Worms is their sister city. We searched and searched for the signs and finally found them. One of the signs was located at a church, but it was blocked off for construction, but the sweet southerners sweet talked the security guards into letting chelsea into taking a photo with the sister city sign. Afterwards we got ice cream, this is diotto (I think) I asked the lady working there for her favorite, she looked at me, smiled and said "I know" and gave me this thing of beauty, best ice cream ever, and I don't know the flavor, I think it is a german candy. Yum!

More exploring today, everyday is an adventure!

Day 2 - The Romantic Road and Schloss (Castles)

The First Castle of the day, Heidelburg, originally built in 1500, and had additions for hundreds of years.
The power room used to house gun power, and it exploded, pretty neat to see the inside and the ruin.
We had a german lunch outside, and I experienced schnitzel,
We found 7 more castles along the romantic road, but it's getting late, more photos and an update tomorrow!

Day 1

Locks of Love Bridge

Church's Steeple

 Cute Cafes Everywhere!
Naiv, remindes me of Nav!

 Down by the River
For lunch we went to a nearby german cafe, and I had ham eggs and potatoes. After a hearty nap to match, we toured the city on foot, seeing all the locals and bikers, BMWs and Mercedes. The Cafes are so cute and they're everywhere. For Dinner we went to an Italian eatery, and I noticed they had a whole wheel of parmaseam cheese, so I knew it would be good.

Today is castle road!

Condor Flight DE6067

Notes on the flightEverything is in German. Flight attendants are German. English is second language. I'm impressed by the plane. New nice and clean. Everyone has a touch screen tablet to use for movies, flight tracking or signaling a attendant. I am currently over the Beaufort Sea heading towards the literal North Pole. As I look down I see ice on the frozen ocean.I was expecting to want to kill myself on this 9 hour flight, and maybe I'm speaking too soon. But it's nice. I've never been this far north. My meal was just delivered. I spot a kit Kat. Meal review. Good because I was getting pretty hungry. I have my shrimp to my German neighbor and made a friend. There was a dulce de leche cheesecake, and of course I would mention the dessert before anything else. There was a very salty beef in gravy with a potatoes side and some cooked veggies, carrots and broccoli. Nothing to special but filling. And salty. There was also some shrimp and veggies but like I said I gave it away because I detest shrimp. Lastly there was some cheese and grapes. Two whole grapes. I wish I got a whole bundle. The cheese was good. Didn't eat the blu cheese because it smelled weird. The service was quick and efficient. Now traveling over Canada. It's an amazing view, especially since it's summer solstice and the sun is shining so bright.
Currently flying over Greenland.
Greenland= glaciarz for dayZ. Grand Canyon of glaciarz
Absolutely gorgeous and icy.
Currently flying over Iceland. This is the farthest east I've ever been. I am craving a lemonade. The sun is shining, but there is a thick cloud cover over the ocean.
I can't wait to get off this plane and have strudel, schnitzel and a big cold German beer! Just saw a volcano island north of Iceland! 3:09 to go! Will I sleep? The drama continues on this long haul flight to Europe. We are about 2 hours from landing and I just figured out I can make a sweet play mix on the radio station, so I made a mix of one direction and other British pop music to bring me in. The verdict is, I'm not sleeping. Can't wait to eat... as usual!
Just as I was getting bored, I was served breakfast and it was awesome. Croissant, sourdough roll, butter jam and fresh fruit. Can't elope strawberry and pineapple. There was also a bunch of grapes. Dreams do come true! Additionally there was roast beef slices, cherry tomatoes and a single walnut. Yum. Now 1.5 hours to go
Oh my god. I just spotted Europe. Norway to my left. I feel like Christopher Columbus but much better fed.
After I landed I just had do much fun with the Fentons. We had a lovely German lunch followed by a nap and then a sun set exploration by the river. We had an Italian meal. Gnocchi with rose. So fab. And we split tiramisu for dessert. I love the Fentons. Castles tomorrow

New to me. Is Greenland a part of North America? I think it is. The clouds are too thick to see anything, but we will be over Iceland here pretty soon then Europe here we come! I hope the clouds clear up so I can see EVERYTHING! also I only slept for about an hour before we even took off. So now I'm jazzed and I'm going to start this adventure with no sleep. I love what Chelsea told me yesterday, "I haven't slept in 5 weeks, Spain does that to you, too much to see and do!" And in the words of my Dad, "you can sleep when you're dead" haha. The seats on this plane really are not bad at all. I can only imagine how fancy they feel in first class, with the recliner seat to a bed. Mom and Dad, if you're reading this, I would advise that you splurge and get window first class seats, it's a vacation within a flight! Ps Miss You already and wish you were with me.

My screen tells me it's -65 below on the summer solstice.
